About Massé

Massé was born in Jacmel, Haiti. He studied art in Haiti's Ecole Nationale des Arts (ENARTS).  

 

Artist Statement:

"As an Acrylic painter, the connection between nature and its components has always been fascinating to me. The presence of Haitian women/street vendors and the butterfly in my paintings is a testament to this. The butterflies demonstrate the significance and the power of change when we trust ourselves and are flexible.  Also, I hope to demonstrate the resilience of the Haitian people.

I am interested in painting women and showcase their beauty. I want to celebrate human beauty even though it is not about their skin color, body shape or physical appearance. It is living a life of peace and justice. It is the character and resilience shown by everyday women and how they influence others.

 However, the challenge is to help people comprehend beyond their beauty. The constant struggle they face daily reminds us of all the disparities in the world. It is my goal to inspire people to new ideas and appreciate the aesthetic of my paintings".
